M Sand
The national coalfields limited (NCL) is Mini Ratna Coal producing company start production of M SAND the core material sued in the civil works.
Over Burden
- The material above the coal seam layer is known as overburden.
- A 410 million cubic meters of over burden is required to extract the coal.
- This quantity is approximately 4 times the amount of coal extracted.
- The NCL produces 122 million tones of coal, the huge quantity of over burden occupies large space and it is a waste material.
- The NCL will produce about 3 lakh cubic meter of M SAND annually and will be using 1429 cubic meter over burden each day to make 1000 cubic meters of sand per day.

M Sand & River Sand
- Chemical characteristic of M SAND are somewhat similar to river sand
- Property such as setting, comprehensive strength and permeability are enhanced in M SAND compared to natural sand.
- Low water retention and tends to crack more often
- Superior shape and smooth surface texture
