Hygiene Rating Scheme
The food regulator has introduced voluntary scheme called as Hygiene rating scheme for food service. The scheme is technology drive and user friendly where food establishments are given rating on a scale of 1 to 5 in which
- 5 indicates excellent compliance
- 1 indicate poor compliance
This scheme is implemented in the
- Food service establishment such as restaurants, cafeteria, dhabahs etc
- Bakeries
- Sweet shops
- Meat retain shops
7 Tips To Get 5 Rating Hygiene Score
- Ensure that your food business is licence or register by FSSAI
- Register on hygiene getting portal (https://fssai.gov.in/hygienerating/home)
- Carry out self-assessment based on the checklist and make improvement accordingly
- Appoint one food safety supervisor 25 food handlers. The FSS should be trained and certified under FSSAI’s food safety training and certificate and program. The FSS in turn should train all food handlers
- Ensure that the finished products are tested at least annually by NABL accredited lab notified by FSSAI
- Display the Food Safety Display Board in the premises
- Get third party audit score from an FSSAI audit agency
- Based on the verification, a Hygiene rating certificate displaying scores will be generated
