SPARC – CCRAS

In this post, details about research scholarship for BAMS students are given. The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has initiated the “STUDENTSHIP PROGRAM FOR AYURVEDA RESEARCH KEN (SPARK) in order to promote interest and aptitude for research among ayurveda undergraduates. 

Objective of SPARC – CCARS Studentship

  • Opportunity to undergraduate Ayurveda students to familiarize themselves with research methodology and techniques by being associated for a short duration with their seniors on ongoing research program or by undertaking independent projects.
  • It may be as an incentive for them to take up research as a career in the future. The institution or guide must provide all facilities to students who are undergoing this studentship.

Stipend for BAMS Students

  • Rs 25000/ per month for two month or total Rs 50,000/ for the student.
  • This amount is paid only for completion of research project and final report.
  • Cost of research must be borne by the institution where research is conducted.
  • A certificate will be issued to students and posted to principal office after 6 – 8 month of completion of research.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) NCISM student 1st year to 4th year before appearing in the final, institution recognized by and therefore, interns/ PG students are not eligible to apply.
  • Carry out the research in his/ her own medical college under the guide who is regular faculty of the medical college. Only permanent full time faculty members working in any of the Department of the Medical College where the student is enrolled can act as the guide. Part time / visiting faculties / Tutors cannot guide the students
  • One student per guide, two students per guide is not permitted. The students have one guide and one co-guide.
  • Same topic proposal by different students are rejected.  Only Indian National students who are studying in recognized Ayurvedic medical colleges of India can apply, Foreign students are not permitted.

Application Process

 

  • The applicant is required to register on CCRAS SPARK website (https://spark.ccras.nic.in/) in the month of October- November and then submit the application form and proposal online till 15th November every year which will be evaluated by the Council.
  • Results will be announced on 15th January of the next year and list of selected students will be displayed on the website.
  • The selected student is expected to complete the project till 30th April of the next year and submit the report before the last date of submission i.e. 31st May. The student will be awarded stipend and certificate by 31st July (in the year of report submission), subject to approval of his/her report.
  • Selection of the candidates for award of research studentship will be done on the basis of two criteria, first on the total marks index (30%) in the previous year exam or in 10+2 in case of 1st year student and second (70%) after technical evaluation of the research plan by a panel of experts in the CCRAS.
  • The decision of the Council in regard to selection of students will be final. Requests for reconsideration will not be entertained and reasons for rejection of applications for award of studentship will not be provided.

Where can I register for SPARK?

  • The dedicated web portal, i.e. https://spark.ccras.nic.in may be visited for registration and detailed information regarding SPARK program. The portal may be used to register as a guide or as a student.     

How to add guide at the time of proposal submission through SPARK portal?

  • The respective guide must be registered as guide on the portal. At the time of proposal submission, the candidate shall be prompted to choose guide from the list available as drop-down.
  • PS: Some users may face some technical issues, as the portal is still in development phase, the concerned technical team is working diligently to resolve.

Which all topics can I do as project?

  • Concerned guide may be consulted for guidance.

My college name is not showing in the portal. What should I do?

  • As the SPARK program is extended only to the NCISM recognized colleges, please confirm whether your college is recognized by NCISM.

When I try to register, it is showing server error. What should I do?

  • Some users may face some technical issues, as the portal is still in development phase, the concerned technical team is working diligently to resolve.

I am about to complete my final year, but not have attended the final exam yet. Can I apply? (Eligibility)

  • The eligibility criteria may be referred on SPARK website.

Can I have a co-guide out of the institution for project proposal?

  • Currently there is no provision for adapting co-guide.

Which research areas are recommended for developing SPARK proposal?

  • The candidate may consult concerned faculty/guide and may choose any topic of your area of interest.

Where can I find the option to upload my last year mark sheet?

  • The mark sheet can be uploaded in the first part of registration process.

Where should I get the Application Attestation Form (AAF)?

  • AAF can be downloaded from the second part of registration process.

Where may I get my SPARK ID?

  • The SPARK ID is generated after choosing the guide at the time of registration. However, due to ongoing development activity on the website some users may face technical error and the concerned team is working on it. Meanwhile, as mentioned in the notification, proposals may send on e-mail following the instructions mentioned therein.

  • In case of difficulty in getting SPARK-ID, Aadhaar number of student and guide may also be used for submission of PDF copy of proposal through email at spark.ayu@ccras.nic.in

What is the last date of registration process and submission of proposal?

The last date of registration and submission of proposal is October 31st, 2022.

What is Application Attestation Form (AAF)?

  • Application Attestation Form is mandatory document to be uploaded with the application.
  • The form can be downloaded from SPARK website. This form is required to be filled in offline and passport size photograph should be pasted by the student. Further, the form is to be duly certified by the Guide and attested by Head of the Department and the Head of the institution/Principal/Dean of Ayurvedic Medical College.
  • Once attestation form is signed by all the students must scan it and save it as a PDF file. Application will not be accepted unless accompanied with AAF.

What is IEC?

  • In clinical studies only, IEC (Institutional Ethics Committee) certificate submission at the time of application submission is optional however mandatory along with the final report. The guide of the student should obtain clearance certificate from the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) as and when necessary.

When will I get stipend?

  • Stipend and certificate shall be awarded by 31st July (in the year of report submission), subject to due approvals.
