Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN)

  • Mid-Day Meal Scheme is flagship programme of Government of India in association with the State Government.
  • This scheme is applicable for group of students 6 to 10 years and upper primary class ( VI-VIII ) and age of group of students 11 to 14 years for Government and Government Aided Schools.

  • To provide nutritious and delicious food for the children.

  • The concept is evolved form the idea of group of children sitting together in a circle having their meal served hot.
  • Equal importance is given to boys and girls with communal harmony.
  • Orange colour is used for food plate to represent it hot and fresh food.
  • It also symbolized energy, heat and sun. a picture is given at the bottom of the book is used to bring the relation of education and mid-day program.
  • It represents the shape of flower as a symbol of childhood, happiness, healthiness, progress and well being of the future generation. The logo is virtually balanced using in the form of children, book and logo text in Hindi and English.

Objective of Mid-Day Meal Scheme

  • The objective of the scheme is to provide hot cooked meal to children of primary and upper primary classes.

Institution/School Eligible for Mid-Day Meal Scheme

  • Government, Govt. Aided, Local Body, EGS and AIE Centres, Madrasa and Maqtabs supported under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and National Child Labour Project (NCLP) Schools run by Ministry of Labour.

Who is eligible for Mid Day Meal?

  • Children studying in Primary and Upper Primary Classes in Government, Govt. Aided, Local Body, EGS and AIE Centres, Madarsa and Maqtabs supported under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and NCLP Schools run by Ministry of Labour are eligible for Mid Day Meal.

Quantity of Food

  • Every child is eligible for 100 gms foodgrains at primary stage and 150 gms at upper primary stage on each working day.

Cost of Food Grain

  • The cost of foodgrains is fully borne by Government of India.
  • minimum standards of foodgrains supplied by FCI
  • The quality of foodgrains must be of fair and average quality (FAQ) of Grade-A
