Now, the top Indian Institute set up outside India, IIT Madras in Africa as per latest news. The ministry of education, Government of India, IIT Madras and ministry of education and vocational training (MoEVT) Zanzibar – Tanzania signs MoU for setting up campus of IIT, Madaras in Zanzibar – Tanzania. This is first ever IIT campus outside India.

It is reflective longer friendship between India and Tanzania.
The unique partnership will bring top ranked educational institution to prime destination in Africa.
The academic programs, student selection criteria, curricula, and pedagogical details will be by IIT Madras, whereas the capital and operating expenditure will be met by the government of Zanzibar-Tanzania.
IIT Madras degrees will be awarded to the students enrolled in this campus. Indian students are also eligible to apply to these programs.
