Drop out & Poor Result in Diploma Institutions

According to MOSPI ( Ministry of statics and program implementation ) report 2017 – 18 , there is 12.7 drop out in the Diploma college. This is just statical data, it may be higher than this one. The drop out may be due to

  • First generation students ( Students whose parents do not go to college )
  • Financial constrains ( 24.3 % rural and 17 % urban )
  • College is far off
  • Language / medium of instruction
  • Failure in studies
  • Unfriendly atmosphere at college
  • Timing of educational institute
  • Engage in economic activities ( 36.9 % rural and 5.3 % urban )

Poor result

  • Drop out of students
  • 20 – 30 % students comes from nearby villages which is 30 – 50 km away from college
  • Language is major barrier: what students speak ( village language ) , write in the answer sheet same way
  • Some students have financial constraints
  • 40 – 50% students are first generation students
  • Lack for future awareness during first year

Major drop out during first year

  • First semester completes in short span.
  • Student’s registration process, accommodation and other procedure completes in a month. Before students understand diploma system, exam comes and this is main reason for backlog in the first year.
