What is ASER (Annual Status of Education Report 2021)?

The ASER is a citizen household survey that provides estimation of children’s schooling status and their foundational reading and arithmetic skills.
This survey is taken for all rural school children whose age lies between 3 to 16. It carried out each year by volunteers of universities, colleges and nonprofit organization
The survey on national scale in the year 2020 and 2021 is not conducted due to COVID 19.
However, the effect of pandemic and closure of school affects learning opportunities crucial. During ASER 2021 phone survey, more than 3000 volunteers across country spoke and teachers and parents at home.

Annual Status of Education Report 2021

The ASER survey carried out in 25 districts, 3 union territories, 17, 184 villages, 76,706 household, 7229 schools and 75,234 school children between age group of 5 to 16.
