Financial Aid for ATAL Tunnel Visit
- The ATAL Tunnel has been built under the Rohtang pass on the Leh – Manali highway.
- It is the longest tunnel above 10,000 feet ( 3.048 meter ) in the world. It is named after Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- This tunnel reduces the distance between Manali & Leh from 116 km to 71 km and reduces travel time from 5 / 6 hours to 2 hours.
- This tunnel has been built using New Austrian Tunneling method in which larges fans separately circulate air throughout the tunnel.
- The air quality in the tunnel is continuously monitor by Pollution sensors.
- The fresh air in the tunnel is injected by heavy duty fans on each side of the tunnel.

- It provides financial Grant for conducting study tour of ATAL tunnel by students and faculty of AICTE approved institute.
Objective |
- To gain information about latest techniques used in the construction of tunned
- Challenges and risks encountered during execution of the project during heavy snow fall in the winter, blasting of rocks, landslides, mudslides, heavy ingress of water.
- To enhance quality of education in the engineering colleges
Eligibility |
- AICTE approved institute having latest NIRF ranking 1 to 500 is eligible for grant
- Team of 10 students + 1 Faculty
- 2nd and 3rdyear students of BE / B. Tech or M. Tech students
- Civil, Mechanical & Structure Engineer
- Selected students have minimum CGPA of 8.5 in the previous semester.
- Duration : 3 days excluding journey period from institute to Manali and back.
- Grant will be 25 institute for Northern region, North West region and 75 Institute from remaining region of country.

Disbursement of Grant
- 50% Grant will be paid to institute on receipt of finalized itinerary and schedule of study tour
- Balance 50 % or ( total expenditure – Grant amount paid ) will be given after submission of report within one month after study tour along with utilization certificate duly audited by CA.
Process |
- AICTE approved institute having NIRF between 1 to 500.
- Each eligible institute can send only one entry ( 10 students + 1 faculty )
- Selected students have minimum CGPA of 8.5 in previous semester
- 25 institute from Northern regions, North – West regions, 75 Institute from remaining regions
- Online submission
- An offer letter is issued to institute after proposal gets selected
- Only one proposal per institute.
