NEC Scholarship - Mission Education

The North East Council ( NEC ) has introduced NEC Merit Scholarship force from the financial year 2020 – 21.

Only for Indian Students
Eligible for north east states
Permanent resident of any of the north east states
Scholarship is disbursed through national scholarship portal
However, the students who already have been receiving scholarship before these rules coming into force shall continue to receive their scholarship as per procedure till end of scholarship tenure.
Once selected for scholarship, only renewal will be allowed for subsequent year of course

Eligibility

Diploma, Degree, Post – Graduate, M – Phil / Ph D course of any institute recognized by the Government
Family annual income shall not exceed Rs. 8.00 Lakh
Sponsored candidate under full employment shall not be eligible to receive scholarship
Student must not be in receipt of any other scholarship at the time of availing scholarship

Level	Qualification Examination
Diploma	HSLC / HSSLC / Secondary school leaving / senior secondary leaving certificate examination from recognised state / central board with minimum 60% marks aggregate
Degree	HSSLC / Senior secondary leaving certificate from recognised state / central board with minimum 60% marks aggregate
Post Graduate	Degree level examination ( BA / B Sc / BE / B Tech / MBBS / LLB / BCA / BBA etc of any recognized institute / university with minimum 60% marks aggregate
M Phil / Ph D	PG degree from any recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate

Documents

1	Permanent resident address issued by Dy Commissioner or Additional Dy Commissioner or Sub divisional officer of civil sub – division in North East states. Certificate of Identification in the Sikkim is issued by Deputy Commissioner to its permanent resident
2	Income certificate
3	Bank account of applicant
4	Details of qualifying examination
5	Synopsis signed by project guide / Director / Any other official authorized by the Institute / University in case of M Phil / Ph D Candidate
6	Other documents as per national scholarship portal guidelines

First level by institute and second level by domicile state of north east region of applicant.
The institute nodal officer to verify the students fulfil the eligibility conditions under the scheme .
They many also be provided with an option on NSP to return the application to the students for correction , if any error noticed.

Merit based selection
Selection of students of M Phil and Ph D will be done on the basis of topic of research / synopsis relevance to issue of NE region. The topic should be directly / indirectly related to NE region states.
If there is tie in the merit base, lesser family income should consider first.
No reservation
If allotted quota remains unfilled for want of eligible candidates, the same may be distribution to remaining eligible students form other NE states.
The scholarship will be directly disbursed to selected students by NEC to band account.

Renewal of Scholarship

Such conditions must be fulfilling in order to renew scholarship
All existing and eligible students of the scholarship are required to fill up the renewal form on NSP portal every year during their course period.
Students shall be required to upload previous exam mark sheet / pass certificate during renewal process.
Latest progress report should be submitted for M Phil / Ph D students
Students must be pass class in particular year with no back log from previous years / no pending backlogs in a year in order to renewal scholarship. If there is any back log he / she shall not receive further scholarship for remaining period.
Any break does not allow in the scholarship period for course period.
Renewal of scholarship will not be entertained if students change institute.
