First Indian Mathematician to get this award
IIT Gandhinagar
- Professor Atul Dixit, Assistant Professor of Mathematic at IIT, Gandhinagar has become the first Indian mathematician to win the prestigious Gabor Szego Prize 2021 awarded by the Society of Industrial and Applied mathematics ( SIAM ), USA.
- The SIAM group on orthogonal Polynomials and special functions ( SIAG / OPSF ) awards the Gabor Szego Prize every two years to one early career researcher for outstand research contributions in the area of orthogonal polynomials and special functions.
- He is first Indian mathematician to receive this award.
- He has been selected for this award for his impressive scientific work in solving problems related to number theory using special functions in particular related to the work of Ramanujan.
Prize
- The award will consists of certificate containing the citation.
- As a part of award, the receipt will invited to give plenty lecture at the international symposium on orthogonal polynomials, special function and applications ( OPSFA ).
- Travel funds will be made available to reimburse the receipt for reasonable travel expenses incurred in attending the award ceremony and giving the talk. The SIAM will cover expenses for travel to and from from the OPSFA conference and the OPSFA conference will waive the conference registrations fee and cover local accommodation costs.
