Dhanteras Mythology : Importance
It is celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha as per Hindu Calendar. The word Dhan refers to wealth and Teras is referred to Thirteenth.
Mythology
(1)Lord Dhanvantari came out of ocean with pot filled with elixir of life when god and demons doing Samudra manthan so Dhanteras is celebrated.
(2)Lakshmi emerged from ocean of milk with a pot of gold while sea by churned by god and demons.
(3)Dhanteras is celebrated as birth anniversary of the God Ayurveda. The Ayurveda helps to mankind free from suffering disease.
(4)Another story related to Dhanteras is about King Hima. This story is most popular. An astrologer told King Hima on the fourth day after marriage, he will died. After hearing this story, his wife put all ornaments form precious gold and silver at sleeping room and lit oil lamp in the evening. When the lord of Death, Yama came to kill King Hima, his eyes’ were blinded by shining of gold ornaments and lamp in the room and he listened stories told by Hima’s wife through night. The lord of Death, Yama has to return without taking life of King Hima. This day later is celebrated as Dhanteras.

- God Lakshmi never enter in the dirty home, so clean your home and surrounding at that day. Clean North direction of your home.
- Sharp objects are considered as negative energy, avoid purchasing shoes, footwear
- Purchasing salt on this day is considered as prosperity and wealth in your home
